It was great to meet with some local farmers here at Westminster today as I joined thousands of protesters to campaign against the Labour Government's proposals.
It's incredibly important that we recognise the work of our farmers across the country and here in the constituency that put food on our plates. I am deeply concerned that reforms to Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief will hit the working people of our rural countryside, risk our food security, jobs and increase food prices for our consumers.
I was sure to reiterate local farmers at the protest that I will do all I can to support them and the farming community. I have already written to all farmers and agricultural businesses I could find to establish a regular Agricultural Forum. This forum will create a dedicated space for our agricultural community to share concerns, exchange ideas, and ensure I am representing their interests the best I can in Parliament.
I'm proud that the Conservative Party is leading on this, we must fight against the Family Farm Tax which is going to destroy farming as we know it.
